Petit Hotel Natura on Gran Canaria
Do you feel like joining me to experience this island adventure? That was my question to my beloved Martijn. The answer was yes. So we left the Netherlands behind to move to ‘the rock’, as we always called Gran Canaria.
It’s very nice to feel completely free.
Almost twenty years ago, we fell into naturism. We discovered how wonderful it is to feel totally free in that relaxed atmosphere. Here on the island, the level of acceptance is much higher than in many other countries. Whether it’s about gay life or naturism, it’s embraced and everyone is respected.
From getting used to being in charge
We worked in employment for just over five years while learning the language and local laws. The urge to start something of our own grew stronger. We got the chance to run a pool bar independently in a resort. We gradually expanded it until we eventually had our own restaurant there.
The urge to start something of our own grew stronger and stronger.
Then the next great opportunity arose: a second pool bar on the same street in a resort that would become naturist. We had no prior experience, but we went all in and worked there happily for many years.
Still, something was gnawing at us. We decided to find a resort we could run independently. By then, we had enough experience and contacts to take this next step.
Expanding to the neighboring island
A long search brought us to Fuerteventura, where a few days later we would sign the papers. Until suddenly we were approached about a resort on Gran Canaria... We ultimately chose both, with a one-year break in between to prepare both places thoroughly before launching them on the market.
We named the resort on Fuerteventura Gran Hotel Natura. It was an immediate hit on the naturist market. Located right on the beach in a charming, picturesque town, the resort became very popular with many nationalities. Unfortunately, we only ran it for five years, but we closed that chapter with a sense of accomplishment. Meanwhile, another location had been added, also with a fantastic setting.
The leap into Petit Hotel Natura
And one day came that panicked phone call. Would we take care of Petit Hotel Natura because the previous operators were abruptly evicted? The resort is unique in its design and location. We always described it as a mix of the Efteling theme park and Villa Kakelbont. The rooms are round towers, each accessible by a separate staircase, and every interior is different.
Many new guests say: I’m walking in paradise when they come into our garden.
The garden is also a real eye-catcher. There are flowers blooming somewhere all year round, creating a cheerful color spectacle. Our guests eagerly enjoy the wellness facilities: floating relaxed in the ‘dead sea pool’, detoxing in the magnesium sauna, relaxing in the infrared cabin, and the spacious jacuzzi. Enthusiastic athletes work out in the fitness room.
Continuing to evolve
We made continuous improvements. Last year, the pool bar underwent a makeover: from dull grey to vibrant tiki style. Guests love to have a drink here to end the day. It’s an inclusive concept, meaning they make their own drinks.
This year the resort underwent a thorough renovation.
This year the resort underwent a thorough renovation. All the rooms’ windows and doors were replaced, as well as the fencing around the property and the entire rooftop terrace, including the addition of extra comfortable Balinese sunbeds.
Our extensive breakfast buffet, included in the price, is evolving nicely. The terrace is always a party thanks to the beautiful pond with frogs. If you prefer a quieter spot, the corner where our turtles live is perfect.
The newest resort: Artika Natura
People who have difficulty walking stairs or who want more luxury are warmly welcomed at Artika Natura, also on Gran Canaria. It opened its doors on November 11, 2019. It’s a very modern naturist resort, with all contemporary comforts and entirely on one level.
If it were up to Martijn, there would now be another new naturist resort. After his sudden passing, I canceled this plan with a heavy heart.
Enjoying the eternal spring to the fullest
The climate of Gran Canaria is called ‘the eternal spring’. In autumn and winter, it’s lovely to stay here with those delightful temperatures. The busiest and most popular period runs from September to Easter.

We take our guests by our own bus to Playa del Ingles beach. From there, it’s another ten minutes’ walk to the naturist beach. A little further is the Maspalomas nude beach.
Our friendly, mostly new team is 100% committed. Service is our number one priority. We do everything we can to make our guests’ holiday as enjoyable as possible. If desired, we also assist them in finding a fun day trip or a surprising night out.
